if memory serves me correct it was a small afternoon gig prior to this show at the uptown theatre:

less than 100 people in attendance...good stuff...

The Estimated is smokin'!!!! Jerry goes on and on with the jam. Never really heard one like this before. That's why I like this site/forum so much. Keep getting turned on to the best of the Dead from people like you. oops, the Estimated just faded out-maybe I can get it in it's entirety at the show's download page.

Just pulled out 2/25/66 (Set I) from my library and thought I'd suggest it for listening. Here's the set list as I have it:

She's On The Road Again
Next Time You See Me
I Know You Rider
Hey Little One
Cold,Rain and Snow
King Bee
Caution
Stealin'

It's nice to listen to this stuff from time to time just to remember how it all started. I'm listening right now and it's funny how incredibly short these versions are. Gotta love "Hey Little One" and of course Pig's "King Bee". This one's from the Ivar Theater in LA, at least that's what it's said to be from. Jerry's got that shaky voice and Pig is sounds so healthy. I know this stuff isn't to everyone's liking but just listen once in a while and see how far they came musically from these years. Enjoy!

Neglected to write down "Schoolgirl" on my CD insert. Was just given a little treat finding that I actually had this one on there too. As I write this also found I have "You Don't Love Me"> "Schoolgirl" as well. Holy sugar! What a surprise.Funny how things like that happen. Hidden treasures!

Here's a link to that show here in the IA.

The reviews seem to indicate some debate as to the actual date.

Thanks. As was stated in the review section the sound quality is great for this time frame. When I listened to the copy I have I couldn't believe how crisp it sounded. Whether the date/location is accurate really is not important, to me at least. We assume it's '66 and back then I don't think everybody kept accurate records for all the shows played, or it's just that over the years, data has been lost or misplaced or something to that affect. Still a great archival selection worth checking out. And yes, the Schoolgirl. You Don't Love Me>Schoolgirl is a classic. Thanks for the link.

I've always loved this show. Every time I hear Pig tootling away on his keyboard during "Cold Rain And Snow" I get a perma-smile. Toot, toot-toot-toot, toot-toot....
